Windsor Utilities Commission Watermain Construction Project, Temporary Road Closure and Lane Reduction

Richmond Street, George Avenue

Windsor, ON: D’Amore Construction (2000) Ltd. and Major Construction (2010) Ltd., under contract with the Windsor Utilities Commission (WUC), are requesting a one-day road closure on Richmond Street and a one-day lane reduction on George Avenue for watermain construction.  

The road closure will be on Richmond Street between Argyle and Devonshire. This will be a FULL CLOSURE, as no vehicles will be capable of crossing. 

The one-day lane reduction will be on George Avenue from Ontario to Tecumseh, with flagging operation for passing vehicles.

Both the closure and lane reduction will take place Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

As part of an ongoing infrastructure renewal program, WUC is installing a new 300mm PVC watermain on Argyle Road from Richmond to Ottawa, on Richmond Street from Argyle to Devonshire, and on Devonshire Road from Richmond to Willistead as well as a new 200mm PVC watermain on George Avenue from Ontario to Tecumseh.

D'Amore Construction and Major Construction began work on their projects the week of April 4, 2022 with expected completion schedules of 14 weeks and 20 weeks, respectively. The projected timings are weather dependent. Tree trimming will also occur at both locations in advance by certified subcontractors.
