Windsor, ON: When ENWIN Support Service Clerk Jodi Reaume heard that Windsor’s A.L.S Run was cancelled due to COVID-19, she knew it would leave a big hole in the organization’s 2020 fundraising. And she knew that she was going to step up to help fill that gap for the ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County.

She set herself a goal of $5,000 – half the $10,000 amount usually raised during the race each year – and set to work.

“It took a while to figure out how to do it in a COVID-19 virtual environment,” she admits. “Eventually, I turned my All-You-Can-Eat Taco event into an online “Booze and Cooler” raffle, and posted some of the larger prizes I had collected to Facebook, as part of a virtual auction.”

Between the two events and an employee fundraising drive at work, Jodi has exceeded her goal, raising a total of $5,710 by mid-December. Her efforts were matched, with ENWIN’s highest level of corporate Grass Roots support at $1,000, bringing her total donation to the ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County to $6,710.

“The ALS Society is very near and dear to my heart,” Jodi told the Community Support Committee when she applied for Grass Roots support for her campaign. “I am delighted to that my fellow employees and my company have stepped up to help.”

“We are proud of our employees who go above and beyond to raise funds for local community support organizations,” added ENWIN CEO Helga Reidel. “Their efforts are especially important during this difficult time, and it is our honour to help them succeed.”

“My sincere congratulations to Jodi, all the employees who contributed, and the ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County!”
