Children's Safety Village

The Children's Safety Village is a child-sized version of our city streets and buildings, which allows children to learn safety from their vantage point while at the same time having fun.

Children will learn:

  • Safe roadway skills through driving small electric cars through real conditions;
  • Traffic safety by walking the miniature streets and sidewalks;
  • Safety information through visiting an electrical utility sub-station;
  • Safe railway crossing and street intersection practices;
  • Fire safety through simulation of a home fire situation.

The Village features a Town Hall classroom facility for teaching school groups ranging from JK through to Grade 5. The classrooms allow Fire Department and Police Services staff to conduct basic information sessions in conjunction with hands-on learning experience.

The village is comprised of an outer road circuit with connecting roads crossing through the middle. Child-sized buildings sponsored by local companies, businesses and associations form the townscape. EnWin Utilities Ltd. has been a proud sponsor of The Children's Safety Village since 2004, hosting a display/demonstration area devoted to the promotion of electrical safety.
